Is CargoBuddy free to use?

Yes, creating an account, posting a job, requesting a quote and browsing routes/deliveries is completely free for both drivers and package senders. CargoBuddy earns revenue on accepted jobs. A connection fee is charged to the sender and a service fee is charged to the driver. These fees are to cover expenses with running the platform, advertising, taxes and sustain its operations.

With CargoBuddy, you're instantly connected to trucks, vans, and cars already heading in your package's direction that have spare room for your item or the entire transport if required. How do I find a driver for my delivery?

Drivers will bid on your jobs if it matches their pickup / destination and if they have enough space to carry your desired items. A driver will bid on your job and you can pick which driver's bid best matches your needs.

What size packages can be sent?

You can send any size package or items from boxes to cars, trailers and trucks. It will depend on what the drivers are willing to carry. Be sure to be as accurate as possible when describing your items size, weight and dimensions.

How do payments work?

Once you have posted your job and selected a driver, you make a secure payment through Stripe. Payment is held with CargoBuddy until the driver has completed the delivery and you are satisfied that item has arrived safely. It is important to keep transactions on the platform so you dont lose your items or funds. Once both the sender and the driver have confirmed delivery through our platform, we will release the payment to the driver within 24 hours.

Is there an escrow service?

CargoBuddy holds sender payments until items have been delivered safely by the driver. This ensures the senders funds are safe until delivery. It is important to keep transactions on the platform so you dont lose your items or funds.

What fees does CargoBuddy charge?

CargoBuddy is free to sign up, post jobs and view jobs. There is a tiered connection fee once you have selected your driver as a sender (maximum of $25). As a driver, there is a 13% platform fee of the overall quote you submit to the sender. Our fees are used to cover the platforms advertising costs, tax requirements and tech fees (google maps, convex etc). Contrary to popular belief, more than 50% of revenue goes to costs of running the platform and taxes.

How do drivers set their prices?

Pricing is based on the drivers location from pickup and destination. It is also based on if the driver has to make the trip specifically for your items or if it can be combined with their current load. No 2 drivers will ever be at the same distance from pickup and drop off. The taxes, fuel costs, weight, dimensions and distance are taken into account when a driver submits a quote. The driver does not pocket the full amount of the quote submitted so please keep this in mind.

Drivers must submit their drivers licence and ABN details that match to ensure accountability. We also require a valid email and mobile phone contact to start driving on CargoBuddy.

Currently, CargoBuddy operates as a connection platform. We recommend discussing insurance and protection measures directly with your driver. We're working on implementing platform-wide insurance options for future releases.

Make sure your package is secure, don't share unnecessary personal information, and trust your instincts. Dont deal with anyone offering to contact you outside of the platform as it will most likely lead to scams where you can lose your funds and your items.
